Film Production PowerPoint

Answer the following questions in complete sentences based on our in class reading and your own Internet research.

1. What are the three stages of production in a movie? Define each stage.

2. Choose a film from the past 10 years (that is school appropriate). What is the name of this film, when was it released, and provide a brief synopsis of its plot.

3. Using that same movie, research the director of the film. What other movies has he/she directed? Have any of those movies won awards for directing?

4. Who wrote that movie? What other movies has he/she written? Have any of those movies won awards for writing?

5. Who edited that movie? What other movies has he/she edited?

6. List at least 3 actors/actresses who starred in that movie. What other movies have those actors/actresses starred in? Have they ever won any awards for acting?

7. Who produced that movie? What other movies has he/she produced? Have any of those movies won awards?

8. What was the opening weekend revenue for your movie? During its run, how did the movie perform in America? Overseas?

9. Did the movie have any "tie-ins"?

Using this information, create a PowerPoint presentation that includes all of the following:

  1. Information about the movie of your choice. Be able to provide a synopsis of the film.
  2. Provide information on the director w/ picture.
  3. Provide information on the writer w/ picture.
  4. Provide information on the editor w/ picture.
  5. Provide information on at least 3 actors/actresses in the movie w/ picture.
  6. Provide information on the producer w/ picture.
  7. Provide information on how the film was marketed.
  8. Provide information on the film's revenue (see question 8 above)
  9. Provide information on the film's "tie-ins"
  10. Find a trailer for the film and hyperlink it within your PowerPoint (ask Mr. Keepes if you need help doing this).
  11. Have at least 10 slides.

First Post of the Semester!

Hello!

If you are reading this, then chances are you are a student in my Spring Semester Mass Media class. I am looking forward to an excellent semester focused on film, radio, Internet, television, books, and numerous other forms of mass media. I hope you are as excited as I am, but if not this first assignment should at least get you talking about something about which you are excited.

For your first assignment, you need to create your own blogger account (like we discussed in class) and then respond to this post with three of your favorite movies of all time. If you can't come up with three favorites, then try to list the last three movies you remember watching.

Three of my favorites are:

1. Lilo and Stitch
2. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
3. The Matrix
